New Hope Clubhouse
The mission of the New Hope Clubhouse is to nurture
and support its members to greater independence through meaningful
work.
At New Hope this includes, onsite training,
transitional, supported and independent employment support.
BENEFITS OF A CLUBHOUSE
Documented research on existing clubhouses
indicates that members and their communities benefit from Clubhouse
services in the form of; higher employment rates, a decrease in
hospitalization, reduced incarceration, improved well-being, and
reduced cost of services in comparison to other programs. At the New
Hope Clubhouse we expect to achieve similar outcomes.
Additionally, individual members will benefit from
using Clubhouse services in the following ways
Job Skills
� The opportunity to acquire new
job skills and obtain independent employment through participation in
daily operations of the Clubhouse and through (supervised)
transitional employment placements.
Goals � A chance to rebuild identity
through setting and achieving personal career goals.
Self-Esteem � Build self-confidence through
accomplishment of specific goals with potential; for greater personal
and financial independence.
Pride
� Rejoin
society with pride through greater social and economic participation
Social Skills � Strengthen and practice
social skills through daily contact and support in the Clubhouse.
UNITS AT NEW HOPE CLUBHOUSE
Clerical Unit � A member who wishes to work
in the clerical unit may perform the following duties:
Gain/Learn Computer skills
Prepare the Clubhouse newsletter
Process intake forms for new members
Kitchen Unit � A member who wishes to work
in the kitchen unit may perform the following duties:
Prepare menus
Shop for food to prepare meals
Cook meals to serve to members
Practice waiter/waitress duties
Operate cash register when members purchase meals
Education Unit � A member who wishes to
work in the Education Unit may perform the following duties:
Learn more about their illness
Begin to work towards their GED
Transitional Employment � A member may have
opportunities to participate in the following:
6 � 9 month Transitional employment opportunities
Supported employment
The Clubhouse has four guaranteed rights of
membership, they are as follows;
1) A right to a place to come
2) A right to meaningful relationships
3) A right to meaningful work
4) A right to a place to return
