PSYCHIATRIC REHABILITATION . . .

AMI, Inc. of Washington-Greene Counties is a non-profit agency that provides licensed psychiatric rehabilitation to adults recovering from mental illness.

Over the last five years AMI, Inc. has been establishing a recovery oriented approach across all of the services provided including the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program.

Recovery from mental illness is a deeply personal journey in which one begins to tackle the adverse impact of experiencing mental health problems, despite their continuing or long term presence. Recovery starts with the individual and works from the inside out.  For this reason it is personal and challenges traditional approaches.  This is where Psychiatric Rehabilitation begins.

Psychiatric Rehabilitation interventions are designed to assist the person to develop, reach and maintain goals they choose themselves.

Activities focus on the following areas:

The recovery concept using the Boston University and Liberman Models

Mary Ellen Copeland's WRAP-Wellness Recovery Action Plan

      Using the community support system

      Medication and Symptom Management

Developing and maintaining skills and supports
